BEASTdome is a 30+ channel sound system semi-permanently installed in the Bramall Building’s Dome Rehearsal Room, and made possible by support from the University’s Alumni Fund. It hosts our regular MiniBEAST series of informal concerts, as well as BEASTdome: Pantry Session events and other concerts throughout the year.
While smaller than the full-sized BEAST system, BEASTdome is nevertheless capable of surprising grandeur as its design takes advantage of the full sweep of the 10 meter high dome of the Bramall Building. As it is quick to set up it can be used for more regular and ad hoc events than a full-sized system. It’s also well suited for different sorts of applications than BEAST itself, in particular immersive approaches which feature height, and require equidistant speakers for technical reasons.
