BEASTdome: Pantry Sessions

BEAST and SOUNDkitchen join forces to present two evenings of delicious electronic music, with artists from Birmingham, the UK, Portugal, Iceland and the US. Thor Magnusson brings BEASTdome to life with his Threnoscope, a live generative piece of immersive spectral music, and eclectic American composer Sam Pluta returns to Birmingham from New York with members of his Wet Ink Ensemble to present a new extended piece for instruments and electronics. SOUNDkitchen brings artists from their successful 2014 series back to the table: Sarah Hughes, Kostis Kilymis and Samuel Rodgers combine piano, electronics, and field recordings, and Chris Herbert and Nicholas Bullen exchange found sound to create beautiful textures for extended listening. Completing our well-rounded meal Turkish music specialist Eliot Bates cooks up sound for oud and BEASTdome’s all around sound system, Portuguese composer Angela Da Ponte premieres a piece made from the sorrowful chants of her homeland, the Azores and Manfredi Clemente’s offers up a small homage to musique concrète, based on improvised material.
