BEASTdome, Bramall Music Building , Times: 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
BEAST presents a mini-festival of events with virtuoso bass singer Nicholas Isherwood (U.S./France) – well known for his performance as Lucifer in Stockhausen’s Licht series, and sound artist and composer Iris Garrelfs who will bring her pulverised granules of electroacoustic babble and glitch, “generating animated dialogues between innate human expressiveness and the overt artifice of digital processing”. Thu 27 February6.30–9pm: BOMble BEAST (Free) As part of our BOMble BEAST series with Birmingham Open Media, local artist and creative technologist Leon Trimble, and producer and performer Jake Williams will speak informally about their work at the BOM cafe. Venue: BOM Cafe
Fri 28 February1–1.50pm: The Electric Voice / Part 1 (Free) Nicholas Isherwood performs works from his specially commissioned Electric Voice project, including a world premiere by the Department of Music’s composition professor, Michael Zev Gordon. Programme

7.30-8.30pm: The Electric Voice / Part 2 (Free) Further performances from the Electric Voice, and other vocally inspired electronic music including works by Jan-Bas Bollen, Pamela Madsen and James Dashow.

Sat 29 February6–7pm: Beneath the Dome / Part 1 A concert of immersive electronic music and sound featuring works by BEAST composers Laura Jeffs, Milad K. Mardekheh, Emma Margetson and Nikki Sheth. Programme
Venue: The Dome, The Bramall
7.30-9pm: Beneath the Dome / Part 2 For this concert, Iris Garrelfs will perform her improvised voice and wearable lo-fi electronics piece Breathing Through Wires. After touring it internationally the Birmingham Ensemble for Electroacoustic Research brings home its Dark Matter project, based on data from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Rounding off the mini-festival, members of the BEAST community will perform a collective electroacoustic improvisation. Programme
